Who is eligible?
- You own the house and the roof.
- The electricity connection is a domestic connection in your name.
- You have not taken a solar subsidy on this connection before.
- The plant is installed by an empanelled vendor (like UPPower) using DCR panels.
Documents you need
- Aadhaar card
- Latest electricity bill
- Bank passbook or cancelled cheque
- Passport-size photo
Step-by-step process
- Register on pmsuryaghar.gov.in with your consumer number and mobile.
- Apply for rooftop solar — DISCOM gives technical feasibility in 7–15 days.
- Install through UPPower (1–2 days of work).
- Net-meter — apply and DISCOM installs the bi-directional meter.
- Commissioning — upload photos, DISCOM inspects and issues the certificate.
- Subsidy — submit bank details; amount is credited by DBT in about 30 days.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Buying non-DCR (imported) panels — no subsidy.
- Bill not in the applicant's name — get the name changed at DISCOM first.
- Installing before feasibility approval — the application can be rejected.
UPPower files the entire application for you and follows up with the DISCOM until the subsidy reaches your bank.
